For your holiday pleasure

Ruby’s has gift cards available for the gift-giving season. We actually have them for any season, but the gift-giving season especially.

We also have baseball jerseys. We have a few left in L, XL, and XXL. Hurry in while supplies last.

In 50 words or less

Tell me why you should be my new girlfriend (This was a reader’s idea not mine). We’ll take the best responses and tape an episode of “The Bachelor: Stuart-style.” Or something like that. Feel free to include a picture.

She just wanted to be naked

I don’t see what the problem is. I guess you can’t take your clothes off in public anymore.

I think I might know her…

Scary-oke Party Revisited

100_0853 Ruby’s Halloween party was a resounding success.

Costume winners:

Best Overall: Captain Jack Sparrow
Best Couple: Uncle Fester and Morticia Adams
Hottest Girl that Woodrow hopes is Single: The Dirty Cop Chick

Thanks to everyone for coming and being a part of my first Halloween Party. Karaoke will be back soon! Pics from the party have been added to the photo gallery.

Pepsi is here

I finally got my Pepsi gun installed today. I wish Beyonce came with it.

What this means for me:

  • Happier bartenders
  • No more 2 liter bottles

What this means for you:

  • Less wait time for mixed drinks (at least the non-juice ones)
  • Colder, less flat drinks

Happy Pepsi-ing!

A few things

  • Ruby’s is now serving wine from the Dale Valley Vineyard. Stop in and have a glass.
  • We’re also carrying the new Mojito drink from Bacardi and Corona in bottles. I still have room for a couple of new selections…any suggestions?
  • In a week (or two) we’ll be serving Pepsi exclusively since Coke basically told me I wasn’t important enough for them to worry about. They’re probably right, but that’s not the point.
  • The Jagermeister is still cold as ever.
  • Last but not least, Cowboy Karaoke will return on October 26th for our Halloween Party.

It’s our anniversary

90 days…3 months…a quarter of a year. Whatever you want to call it, we’ve lasted that long. It’s been a great (time period) so far, so let’s recap.

  • Replaced a good portion of the sewer line - not so fun.
  • Was told I don’t know how to run a business by the pizza distributor sales manager on the day they took my pizza ovens - hurt my feelings.
  • Got a scare with the health inspector - frightening.
  • Had two parties with the music of Aaron Heim Live - excellent.
  • Steak Nite continues to draw in good crowds and has the construction crews buzzing - fantastic.
  • We’re starting to get a little bit of buzz in the Juice section of the Des Moines Register - every little thing helps.

Best of all, the support from everyone has been tremendous. Thank you to everyone who has helped out on both sides of the bar. I’ll try to make the next 3 months even better.
